Arc Lamp

This lighting object is conceived as a sculptural arc lamp positioned at the intersection of functional design and architectural form. The project investigates balance, load distribution, and visual tension through the contrast between an expansive curved arm and a compact, weight-bearing ceramic base.
The base consists of individually hand-formed ceramic spheres, each treated with layered glazes and fired multiple times. These elements function simultaneously as structural ballast and as an articulated sculptural composition. Minor variations in surface texture, glaze depth, and edge definition are inherent to the manual forming and firing process and are considered an integral part of the design concept rather than a deviation.
The arched arm extends from the ceramic base in a controlled trajectory, defining space through line and curvature rather than mass. The textile lampshade diffuses light softly, creating a restrained and atmospheric illumination that emphasizes spatial depth instead of direct brightness. Electrical components are deliberately reduced in visual presence to maintain the object’s sculptural clarity.
The lamp is designed as a limited series object and produced through a hybrid process combining ceramic craftsmanship with precise assembly of electrical and structural components. It is intended for residential, gallery, and architectural interiors where lighting is understood not merely as utility, but as a spatial and material statement.
